The field of second language learning has expanded rapidly, highlighting that pedagogical knowledge differs across disciplines and that research findings are not always transferable. Researchers continue to advance understanding of second language–specific pedagogy. The Research in Second Language Learning series will provide a dedicated outlet, promoting research-based decision-making in second language teaching and learning.
Rationale:
The field of second language learning research has grown rapidly in recent years. Educators increasingly recognize that pedagogical knowledge varies significantly across subject domains and that findings from one area of educational research may not apply to another. This recognition underscores the need for discipline-specific inquiry in second language learning.
Aims and Objectives:
Researchers in second language learning continue to deepen our understanding of pedagogy that is specific to second language contexts. The Research in Second Language Learning series aims to advance this knowledge base by providing a platform for innovative, research-driven scholarship. Its objective is to inform and enhance the decision-making processes of educators and policymakers through evidence-based insights.
Scope and Content:
The series will serve as an outlet for emerging and established scholars to present theoretical, empirical, and practice-oriented studies that address second language teaching and learning. It will feature works that explore cultural, linguistic, and contextual dimensions of pedagogy, promoting a research-based approach to improving second language education.
Submission Guidelines and Contact:
The series Research in Second Language Learning invites proposals from scholars and researchers in the fields of second language and literacy for authored or edited volumes. Submissions from around the world are welcome. While the series maintains a broad thematic scope, it is particularly interested in works that offer innovative insights and contribute meaningfully to the advancement of second language and literacy research. Preference will be given to projects that are near completion and ready for publication.
Interested authors and editors are invited to submit a brief proposal (approximately 500 words) to the series editor, Dr. Bogum Yoon, at [email protected]. Proposals should include:
1. Book title
2. Purpose of the work
3. Rationale for the volume
4. Table of contents or outline of main sections
5. Tentative timeline for completion
6. Author/editor biography
Following an initial review of the brief proposal, selected contributors will be invited to submit a full-length proposal for formal consideration.
