The Handbook of Resources in Middle Level Education

The Handbook of Resources in Middle Level Education, focuses on promoting, supporting, and advocating for the education of young adolescents (10-15 year olds) through the dissemination of practice-based resources. The overarching goal of the series is to share the wisdom of scholars and practitioners who study and/or work closely with young adolescents. The rationale is to put useful information into the hands of middle grades educators across their career span—from preservice preparation to continuing professional development. The content of the series ranges from relevant topics ranging from middle level legacy leaders to middle level teacher preparation. The series also includes The Encyclopedia of Middle Grades Education.

The Handbook of Resources in Middle Level Education is a companion to The Handbook of Research in Middle Level Education series. Vincent A. Anfara and Steven B. Mertens envisioned this series to be comprised of various resources for middle level education—ones that would be beneficial to the field. These volumes are a compendium of sources intended to inspire and support middle school practitioners, scholars, community members, and policymakers. Steven B. Mertens and Vincent A. Anfara, Jr. also served as the co-series for the inaugural volume in 2011. Then, in 2013, Micki M. Caskey and Steven B. Mertens began their service as the series co-editors with volume 2. The series has continued to flourish and disseminate valuable resources.
